Funeral Services for Robert J. Gilmore, 88 of Temple, will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, January 5, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 P.M. Saturday, January 5, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

Mr. Gilmore passed from this life on Thursday, January 03, 2019. Robert James Gilmore was born on April 12, 1930, to Henry B. Gilmore, Sr. and Wilma Wilborn Gilmore in Temple, TX.

Robert graduated from Temple High School and Temple Junior College. He worked for Temple Daily Telegram, Hercules-Rocket Dyne of McGregor, and Sam’s Club. He was a member of the National Guard, served for many years as a cub scout leader, served as a counselor for Glen Lake Church Camp, and volunteered at CTLC for 30 years. He was also a very proud member of the Gilmore Hunting Club and hunted with his nephews until the age of 87.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Cater Gilmore; son, Daniel Robert Gilmore; and granddaughter, Marci Elizabeth Singleton.

Those left to honor and cherish his memories are his two daughters, Robi Lee and husband Keith and Donna Singleton and husband Rick; one brother, Charles Gilmore; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; as well as many other beloved friends and family.

    Thinking of all of y'all today. I remember him working at Sam's. I'd always walk in & say "hey Mr Gilmore!" He was always so nice. Love y'all very much.

    I have many great memories of hunting with Uncle Robert. I can tell you that even at the age of 86 his aim was still great.
