Mrs. Velma Lucille Edwards, 87, of Temple and formerly of Romance, Arkansas, died Friday at a local hospital in Temple, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Reverend Phil Powers and Reverend Cliff Hutchins officiating. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m., in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mrs. Edwards was born July 1, 1922 to Price and Esther (Bliss) Haynes in Atascadero, California. She married Lee Edwards in California on November 18, 1942. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Edwards was a charter member of the Marshall Road Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas. She was presently a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Temple.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by children: George Edwards and Raymond Edwards of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Ronald Edwards of Cabot, Arkansas, and Carol Edwards and Donna Waddill of Temple; brother, Dwight Haynes of Paso Robles, California; sister, Nina Templeton of Loda, Illinois; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
