I served in the Army.

Services for retired Staff Sgt. James Eugene Swindler ,68, of Killeen, will be at 12:00 noon Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints , located at 1410 S. 2nd Street Killeen.

Burial with full military honors will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Swindler passed away on August 2, 2017, after a three month battle with bladder cancer.

James was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 2nd, 1949, to the late Elizabeth Belle and William Thomas.

He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Carolyn who passed April 3, 2017, daughter Dorothy Ruth, and his older brother William Earl.

James is survived by his daughter Lucresia, sons Benjamin and Joshua. Grandchildren Dakota, Kalob, Alexander, Brianna and Madeline all of Killeen.

Grandson James David, of Ohio; one brother, David Elliott of Ohio; one sister, Belle Ann, of Ohio; one nephew, David Allen.

James will be sadly missed by many.

Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.
